Is this invoice generator legal to use in Saudi Arabia?+
Yes. Saudi Arabia's VAT Implementing Regulations and ZATCA's FATOORA e-invoicing mandate require registered businesses to issue electronic Tax Invoices. Phase 2 (since 2023) requires integration with ZATCA's platform, cryptographic stamp, and QR code. KipBill's PDF supports the visual layout; official e-invoice XML submission is via ZATCA-certified software.
What VAT rate should I use on my invoices?+
Saudi Arabia's standard VAT rate is 15% (increased from 5% in July 2020). Zero-rated: exports outside GCC, international transport, qualifying medicines and medical equipment. Exempt: residential rent, life insurance, margin-based financial services. Consult ZATCA for current classifications.
Do I need to register for VAT before issuing invoices in Saudi Arabia?+
VAT registration is mandatory once annual taxable supplies exceed SAR 375,000. Voluntary registration is available from SAR 187,500. FATOORA e-invoicing applies to all VAT-registered residents. Non-resident suppliers and B2C retail have adapted rules (Simplified Tax Invoices allowed).
What information must every invoice include in Saudi Arabia?+
Saudi Tax Invoices require: Arabic text (English optional bilingual); supplier name, address, VAT number; customer VAT number for B2B; sequential invoice number; issue date and supply date; description; quantity; unit price; discount; taxable amount per rate; VAT rate and amount; total including VAT; QR code; and cryptographic stamp (Phase 2).
Can I issue invoices in a currency other than SAR?+
Yes. Saudi businesses can invoice in foreign currency, but the VAT amount must be converted to SAR at the exchange rate published by SAMA on the date of supply and shown on the Tax Invoice. Arabic language is mandatory; English can be included as a secondary language. KipBill supports SAR and 30+ currencies.
How long do I have to keep invoice records in Saudi Arabia?+
ZATCA requires Tax Invoices and e-invoicing records to be retained for at least 6 years (up to 11 years for capital assets related records). Electronic archiving must preserve integrity, readability, and accessibility during the retention period.
