Is this invoice generator legal to use in Turkey?+
For taxpayers above the GİB (Revenue Administration) threshold (currently TRY 3 million annual turnover), e-Fatura via GİB is mandatory. Below threshold, a paper/PDF invoice is permitted with specific content. KipBill serves as the commercial document; tax-valid e-Fatura goes through GİB.
What KDV rate should I use on my invoices?+
Turkey's standard KDV (VAT) rate is 20% (raised from 18% in July 2023). Reduced rates 10% (food, textile, basic goods) and 1% (agricultural products, newspapers). Some supplies are zero-rated (exports) or exempt.
Do I need to register for KDV before issuing invoices in Turkey?+
KDV registration is mandatory from first taxable supply for businesses operating in Turkey. There is no threshold for registration — any commercial activity triggers VAT obligation.
What information must every invoice include in Turkey?+
Turkish VAT law requires: invoice number and date, supplier name/address/tax number, customer details, description, quantity, unit price, KDV rate and amount by rate, total including KDV.
Can I issue invoices in a currency other than TRY?+
Yes. Turkish invoices can be issued in foreign currency, but the KDV amount must also appear in TRY at the Central Bank of Turkey (TCMB) effective sale rate on the invoice date.
How long do I have to keep invoice records in Turkey?+
Turkish tax law requires retention of invoices and accounting records for 5 years (plus special periods for specific transactions). e-Fatura records are stored in the GİB system.
