Singapore Dollar invoice FAQ

Can I legally issue an invoice in Singapore Dollar?+

Yes. Singaporean GST-registered businesses invoice in SGD for domestic transactions. Foreign-currency invoices are permitted if the GST amount is also expressed in SGD at MAS (central bank) rate.

What tax rate should I put on a Singapore Dollar invoice?+

Standard GST is 9% (as of January 2024, up from 8% in 2023 and 7% pre-2023). Zero-rated: exports, international services. Exempt: financial services, residential property, digital payment tokens. Registration threshold S$1M annual taxable turnover.

Where does the S$ sign go on the invoice — before or after the amount?+

The S$ sign goes BEFORE the amount: S$1,000.00. Use "S$" or "SGD" in international contexts to distinguish from USD and other dollar currencies. Comma for thousands, dot for decimal.

Do I have to show the Singapore Dollar equivalent of the tax?+

If you invoice in non-SGD, the IRAS requires the GST amount to be shown in SGD at the published exchange rate on the invoice date (the MAS S$ rate table is referenced).

Can I convert this invoice to another currency later?+

Yes. KipBill supports SGD and 30+ currencies. Many Singapore-based regional hubs invoice MYR, IDR, THB, and USD from the same entity.
